A floating neutral occurs when the neutral wire in a circuit is not properly grounded, and as a result, the voltage on the neutral wire is not zero. The neutral wire in a circuit should be properly grounded. This can be achieved by connecting the neutral wire to the grounding system of the building or facility where the circuit is installed.
The grounding system should be designed based on the type of facility, soil conditions, and equipment requirements. It should include an adequate number of ground rods, plates, or grids, and the connections between them should be low-resistance and corrosion-free.
